When you list your home with a Real Estate Agent and Company, you sign a listing agreement for a specified period of time, for example, 1,3 or 6 months or longer. Once you sign this agreement you are locked into that time period. The only way out is if the company, out of the goodness of their heart, decides to release you (not very likely.) The only way to insure that you can get released sooner, and at your request, is to get it in writing. Most companies will not give it to you in writing nor will they likely release you.
